Drastic Changes

Yesterday was certainly a huge disappointment.  As many of you might have already seen, Google has changed their policy regarding adult content on Blogger.  As of March 23rd, it will no longer be allowed on their public blog sites.

This is a huge blow to the TG caption community since many are on Blogger currently.

As for me, I'm not quite sure what that's going to mean yet.  I've put so much time and energy into the site here over the years that I'm reluctant to abandon it on Blogger in order to start over from scratch.

So as of now, I've removed all nudity from the pics on the site.  In addition, I've removed all of the embedded streaming videos from the posts.  But don't worry!!  You can still stream them by clicking on the video link in the post.  It will just take you my own private file storage page that isn't hosted on Blogger.  It doesn't seem that they're going to be restricting links to other sites, so this will hopefully allow me to continue on without interruption.

If that doesn't end up working though, I'll have to find a new home entirely.  Tumblr seems like the most viable Plan B option right now, but I'm still looking.

Any advice or suggestions you have would be very much appreciated.

UPDATE:  It was just announced that Google has reversed their decision on adult content on Blogger and won't be shutting down those sites next month.  This is fantastic news for the TG community in general!  Of course in the meantime, I've been scrambling to cover myself just in case and have already set up a mirror site over on Tumblr.  Check it out at TGCreation.tumblr.com.  Since I already have it ready, I think I'll likely keep it up and running and try to keep it in sync with this site here. That way I have a different way to reach an audience and also have a backup site in case things change again.  Thanks for everyone's feedback.

UPDATE #2:  Well, it's official!  Although word had leaked out before this, I just got a second notice from Google and they definitely have reversed their decision to ban explicit material from Blogger.  So all is safe for now.

Truly,
Wren

It's certainly a drag, Lady Wren! All the truly bad things going on and they come down on people whose idea of artistic expression is more open than some others can appreciate!?!

D let us know what & where, if any;thing/place, you'll be doing/going with your masterpieces, Lilac!!!

    3. It truly is a shame. I imagine many people will end up abandoning their blogs entirely rather than starting over from scratch.

    4. There are plenty whose work does not exceed the coming standard, (I suppose there may be a double entendre in there), and they should be able to continue unmolested by the impending censorship. Sadly, however, those of us who sculpt our art around the fullness and variety of the human form & function will be forced to limit our mode of expression, find other venues in which to do it, or abandon and remove much of the bodies of work already available to those choosing to partake of such fantastical self-expression!
      Peace,Love&Kisses!!!

  3. Wren! This is terrible news!

I'm not sure about the policy on wordpress, but Tubmlr is much more open than other sites. I think you would blend in well there, although it isn't what it used to be.

Many of the major sites have been doing things like this and we should expect more changes since the Internet is now officially considered a Utility. The FCC has been very hush hush about the whole thing. I used to build websites and I would offer to help out since I do enjoy your website, but am currently so engulfed by my life. Also, its been awhile, so I wouldnt be able to do much.

I have templates I've created in the past since I used to host my own sites. CMS, or Content Management Systems (much like blogger, wordpress, joomla, and others) are basically what you use to build sites like these and require little to no knowledge and have full online support (depends on the backing [by backing, I mean the back-end. Its used as a reference to the system your using. In this case, you're backing is Blogger. Where as you could be backed by a Web Host or Server Host as well.]).

"A content management system (CMS) is a computer application that allows publishing, editing and modifying content, organizing, deleting as well as maintenance from a central interface. Such systems of content management provide procedures to manage workflow in a collaborative environment. These procedures can be manual steps or an automated cascade. CMSs have been available since the late 1990s.

CMSs are often used to run websites containing blogs, news, and shopping. Many corporate and marketing websites use CMSs. CMSs typically aim to avoid the need for hand coding, but may support it for specific elements or entire pages." - wikipedia

I have many ideas that I am willing to share to help keep you and your friends afloat.

What a Content Management System is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_management_system

Open Source CSMs are key; it means its free and most of the included features are free as well. Free as in "Freedom of Speech" or "Free to Use", not as in "Free Beer" or "Free Food". PHP based systems are the most common and the most supported: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_content_management_systems

Feel free to probe for more info if you'd like.

    1. Thanks so much for the detailed information. This will be a great help if it ever comes to the point of having to host my own site.

I've checked out the policies on all of the major blogging sites and Tumblr is the only one lenient enough where I could put my particular content. But for now, I'm hoping I can get away with staying on Blogger given the changes I've made.

      Fingers crossed.

    2. https://en.support.wordpress.com/mature-content/

mature content is very definitly allowed on wordpress. There exists a tool to explort your blogger posts to wordpress posts as well but I have no experience with it.

    3. Yes, but check out about half-way down where they outline the limitations of what's permitted. This definitely rules me out...

"Please don’t: Post sexual materials that can be considered pornographic, such as images or video of explicit sexual acts or close-up images of genitalia"

      Thanks for the feedback though.

  4. you might have problems with Tumblr.

This is a passage from their Community Guidelines page:
Uploading Sexually Explicit Video. You can embed anything in a Tumblr post as long as it's lawful and follows our other guidelines, but please don't use Tumblr's Upload Video feature to upload sexually explicit video. We're not in the business of hosting adult-oriented videos (and it's fucking expensive).

And since all of your video's fall under or come very close to being Sexually Explicit Videos you might want to keep looking.

    1. I should be fine in this respect. All of my videos are stored/hosted in my own online storage and they're just embedded in the post. So none of the videos would be hosted by Tumblr. Thanks for the feedback though. Hopefully I can remain here and it won't come to this anyway, but it's good to know I have people looking out for me just in case.

  5. Also available as options might be venues such as x-hamster-dot-com and/or image-fap-dot-com . While I have not looked at the TOS or any fees for subscribing/posting to either, they do both have TG/TF Cap & vid postings which can be commented on by subscribers, and which -i.m.o.- could use some bolstering with such tremendous examples as your works, Lady Wren!!! Perhaps then there might be a broader expansion of our niche in the future.

  7. This from BBC News

Google has changed its mind about forcing sexually explicit blogs on its Blogger platform to become private.
Earlier this week, the firm warned bloggers that blogs containing sexually explicit images and videos would be made private on 23 March.
After "a ton of feedback" the firm has decided to continue with its current policy instead, it says.
Explicit blogs must continue to identify themselves as "adult".
This means a warning page is shown before readers are transferred to the site.
Google also reserves the right to add an "adult" tag to Blogger blogs if it feels the description is appropriate.

    2. Below is the article referred to by Mr/Miss/Ms Stranger. However, I would find it more comforting if/when G sends a notice reversing the notice they sent to inform of their intent to make the changes in the first place.

    3. I was thinking the same thing. It's not exactly a formal announcement. Hopefully this isn't another case of the news media jumping the gun and spreading an incorrect story. Fingers crossed that it's just Google trying to keep their reversal of policy quiet.

  11. Hey Wren,
the other sites seemed to be just embedding the videos from xvideo, if that one disappears so will the others. The other site I saw it on was xnxx.com

    1. Thanks again. I found my videos on xvideo and posted a few comments to the person who posted them asking nicely to give credit where credit was due. Unfortunately rather than do that, they removed all of my comments. Rather than getting into a war with them about it, I've decided to let this one go. Given the fact that I'm using other people's videos to create my own, it may be a bit hypocritical of me to insist they take it down. Although at least in my case, I do try to credit the original work whenever possible.

Where did you see it on xnxx? I can't seem to find any of my vids there. I did find a few on xhamster, but at least in those cases, the person posting them credited the videos as mine.

      Thanks again.
