Downloading problems

FURTHER UPDATE...

On looking into it deeper, it turns out that MediaFire has just recently changed its policies and has put download restrictions on split RAR files... only allowing them to be downloaded 10 times / week!!

It doesn't seem to be a problem with regular RAR files, but only with RAR or ZIP files that are split, encrypted or password-protected.  For example, you can download the "Happy Birthday Mr. President" video without any problems since it's just a single file.

So I'm currently looking into options right now.  Since MediaFire has a per-file limit of 200MB, I have to keep the file sizes smaller but they're already compressed in the MP4 format that they're in.  I'd hate to have to lower the quality of the video to make the file size smaller but it may come to that if I have to keep the entire video file under 200MB.

I'll get things straightened around with the previous posts as soon as possible, but it may take me a bit to reprocess and repost them all, so please be patient.  In the meantime, I'll get a brand new video posted by tomorrow which I'll make sure is just a single file.

Sorry about all of this drama.  Trust me, this is more of a headache to me than anyone.  If anyone has any suggestions on alternatives for cloud storage or just decreasing the file sizes, I'd love to hear them.

Truly,
Wren

UPDATE to the issue below...

I've tested this morning on IE, Chrome and Firefox and all links seem to be fine with MediaFire now.

When I Googled the error from MediaFire, it seems that many different people received it from MediaFire on all sorts of files.  However every single one of those instances only occurred yesterday, never before.  So the only thing I can think of is that MediaFire was having some issues yesterday or was making a change of some kind on their end that temporarily affected the ability to download some files.

But right now, everything seems OK and you should be able to download again as usual.  However I'll be keeping an eye on it and periodically testing it over the next few days to make sure the problem stays gone.

If you have any continuing problems, please let me know.

Truly,
Wren

**********************************************************************************************

I apologize to anyone having problems downloading my videos.  It has just come to my attention that MediaFire has started displaying a message starting with the following to some users...

"The file you attempted to download is an archive that is damaged or possibly encrypted..."

So far I don't know what this is, but I've only seen it myself if I test using Internet Explorer as my browser.  Normally I use Chrome and that seems to be fine without any issues.

I'll be doing some more testing and investigation to see why this is happening and will let you know as soon as I find anything.

In the meantime, I recommend you try using something other than IE as your browser to see if that eliminates the problem.  If anyone has any feedback on this issue, I'd love to hear it.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Wren.

  1. sounds like you might have a virus checker embedded in your browser which is reading the RAR split archives as damaged.

  2. This is the anonymous poster from the previous topic(I believe I was the first to mention it). I have tried a total of 3 browsers(Firefox, IE, and Chrome, my default), and tried logging in to my mediafire account to see if that fixed it.

It's odd, I've never had this problem before, and I've downloaded a few hundred files from Mediafire before. Maybe it's part of a new policy and I just happen to be on the list of those 'effected'....

    1. Thanks for originally bringing this to my attention yesterday. As you can see in the updated posting above, it appears that this was a change or glitch (hopefully temporary) on MediaFire's end that just started yesterday. All files seem fine now, so please give it another try and let me know how it goes.

I'll be watching to make sure the problem doesn't return.
